Canada’s defence ecosystem is at a critical inflection point. For SMEs, the growth potential is significant—but so are the challenges, from lengthy procurement cycles and complex supply chains to capital constraints. Join BDC’s Guillaume Bédard, Senior Advisor, Defence – Western and Northern Canada, and Luke Helland, Sr. Account Manager, Defence – Prairies, for a focused discussion on growth in Canada’s defence supply chain. They will present BDC’s Defence Platform and explore how BDC, together with defence ecosystem partners, can help strengthen Canada’s defence capacity while opening new growth opportunities for your business.
BDC has up to $6 billion for this initiative. The Canadian government's Defence Industrial Strategy has committed $81.8 billion to support the nation's domestic defence capacity over the next decade.
You will leave with:
• A clear understanding of BDC’s Defence Platform and how it can support SME growth
• Insights on closing financing gaps created by long procurement cycles
• Practical approaches to entering and growing within defence supply chains
• A better understanding of flexible, patient capital solutions designed for defence sector realities
• Direct connections with ecosystem partners and peers advancing Manitoba’s defence landscape
• An overview of BDC’s capital, financing, and advisory services available to defence sector businesses
• Greater understanding of how BDC and federal partners can collaborate to support entrepreneurs and strengthen the Canadian defence ecosystem
This will be a hybrid event with a limit of 12-persons attending in-person at SIMSA’s Boardroom (limit one per company - first come, first served) and the remainder joining via Teams. In person attendees can begin arriving at 8:30 am, with the session beginning at 9:00 am. The presentation will last approximately 20-minutes followed by Q&A.
If you are unable to attend, please reach out to arrange a one-on-one meeting with Guillaume (Guillaume.BEDARD@bdc.ca) or Luke (Luke.HELLAND@bdc.ca) while they are in Saskatoon during the week of July 27, or virtually at a later date.
