Learn why ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) topics - including carbon reduction - are increasing in importance among large mining and industrial companies, and more importantly, the implications for their suppliers.

But what is ESG? And why exactly is it important to supplier companies?  You have your carbon number by using the SIMSA carbon calculator - available for free HERE - but now, how do you reduce that number and what do you do with it?  How do you profit from it?

In this virtual lunch and learn we will discuss:

  • The basics of ESG and why it is becoming more important to your customers, employees, investors, and other stakeholders
  • The value proposition for ESG (Yes, you can profit from ESG!)
  • Three things you can do to start implementing ESG initiatives in your business

This event features Karri Howlett, President of Karri Howlett Consulting. Karri provides ESG, financial strategy, and quantitative risk assessment consulting as well as helping companies prepare for ownership transition or new investment. Karri was previously President of RESPEC Consulting Inc., which is an employee-owned geoscience and engineering consulting company based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and led the acquisition of the previous company in 2009, followed by the subsequent sale to RESPEC in 2016. She currently sits on the Boards of NexGen Energy (as Chair of the ESG Committee), Saskatchewan Trade Export Partnership (as Vice Chair), and March Consulting. Karri recently served as the Chair of the Safety, Environment and Corporate Responsibility Committee for SaskPower, leading the development and implementation of net zero carbon emissions strategies for a large carbon-based power utility.
